Secret Monkey Weekend
Secret Monkey Weekend
Secret Monkey Weekend are a family rock trio led by longtime NC power-pop / Americana guitarist-songwriter Jefferson Hart. The band has a strong early era Byrds and Kinks influence while also giving ample nods to The Band, Big Star, Tom Petty and 60s R&B. Hart cut his teeth in the country rocking The Hanks in the late 80s, also backing Arrogance's Robert Kirkland and dB's founder Chris Stamey in their solo projects on stages in the Southeast. With Jeff Hart & the Ruins, he appeared for years at Charlotte's Double Door on bills with The Rank Outsiders, Electro-LUXE and The Woods. He also held the bass chair with honky tonk icons Two Dollar Pistols upon release of their debut CD. With this new family rock trio. Jefferson shares vocals with 11 year old daughter Lila, their powerful drummer, and the rock solid grooves of daughter Ella, age 16. Expect roots rock and power-pop family-penned originals with all three as featured vocalists. In their short two-year history, they have played NC festivals Eno River Festival, Shakori Grassroots Festival, Carrboro Music Festival as well as Triangle area venues The Magnolia Roots Music Lounge, Carrboro Artscenter, Blue Note Grill and several area clubs, schools and private parties. While cutting their teeth on the referenced influences and Papa Jefferson's originals, they have amassed enough of their own songs to have their first CD release ready by the end of 2019.
Lemon Sparks
Lemon Sparks
From Raleigh, NC, Lemon Sparks seamlessly blends classic songwriting with sophisticated 60s psychedelia, 70s power pop, timeless folk, and jazz.

Initially intended as a DIY recording project, the self-titled Lemon Sparks debut quickly morphed into a duo record with numerous guest spots scattered throughout. The addition of a third member allowed the band to move forward with live performances and the record's release. The Winston-Salem Journal said the band’s self-titled debut is "...a brilliant pop confection brimming with infectious, well-crafted songs influenced by music of the late '60s and early '70s, including the Beach Boys, the Beatles, the Who, Badfinger and Big Star." Power Pop News said, "...different from anything you've likely heard... yet, eerily familiar."

The band has played regional clubs and festivals, as well as toured as support for larger international acts. A new album is currently in the works. Lemon Sparks is Jeff Carroll (vocals, guitar), Rick Lassiter (bass, vocals), and Greg Tourian (drums, vocals).
