In a world of curated images, likes and followers, true connection has been lost. It’s what isn’t shown, the subtext in between the moments shared that is most important.

Join us for a night dedicated to rediscovering the importance of true human connection through the power of music, comedy and conversation. Let’s start to remove the stigma surrounding mental health by simply asking…

Jah Smalls
Jah Smalls
Jah was born in NYC, as a teenager his love for music drew him towards his first career, becoming a DJ. In 1991 tragedy struck and he was a victim of an attempted robber that left him gunned down at the age of 19. Unbeknownst to him his career shifted and "event planner/ promoter" had become his unseen title. In 1997 he decided to move to Charlotte NC. Years later on on the job injury left him disabled and yet again in search of a new beginning. As most artists do, they rely on the things that present the most comfort and for Jah that was poetry. Within his 6 year stretch Jah hosted many poetry events and workshops throughout the metro Charlotte area and eventually assumed the title of Slam master (coach) of Respect Da Mic Slam. He is also co-founder of Grannae'sBoyz and a proud member of the Guerilla Poets Non-prophet organization. Jah's ultimate goal is to create a writing program for middle school students. It is his belief that these are the most tender moments in a child's life and in creating such a program we can help prevent broken and hurt children from becoming broken and hurt adults through therapeutic writing one stanza at a time...
Carlos Valencia
Carlos Valencia
Sharp-tongued and hilarious. Intelligent and profane. Silly and provocative. Honest and off-kilter. Carlos Valencia has been described as a guerrilla comic intent on chipping away at the establishment one dick joke at a time.

Through years of honing his craft in comedy clubs, colleges, theaters, casinos, boats, taverns, watering holes, churches, diners, coffee shops, prisons, military bases, bowling centers, back alleys, redneck bars, punk rock clubs, hip-hop joints, and heavy metal dives across the United States, Carlos Valencia has built an underground following nationwide and earned the respect of both new and veteran comics alike. Including the attention of underground comedy legend Doug Stanhope who tapped him to be his opening act during Stanhope's Big Stink Comedy Tour.

If you enjoy social commentary that straddles the edges of darkness yet doesn't take itself too seriously and is never above embracing the absurdity of the human condition, and poop jokes, Carlos Valencia might be the comic you've been waiting for.

"Carlos Valencia, whose comedy has been described by comedy legend Patton Oswalt as a "gorgeous level of hilarious wrong,” will be recording a stand-up comedy album at the Evening Muse on Wednesday, April 19. This will be Valencia’s second album recording. His debut album “It Gets Worse” was released in 2015.

Valencia is an 11-year stand-up veteran that has built an underground following nationwide through a raw, yet off-kilter approach to comedy that straddles the edges of darkness without ever taking itself too seriously, or being above embracing the silliest aspects of the human condition. His commitment to honest uncompromising comedy has earned him a nationwide underground following, as well as the recognition of renowned comedians like cult legend Doug Stanhope, who tapped him to be his opening act during Stanhope’s Big Stink Comedy Tour; and Netflix sensation, Tom Segura, with whom he recently did a tour of sold-out theater shows as part of Segura’s No Teeth No Entry tour."
