Bill Noonan
Bill Noonan
Bill Noonan has been exploring the borders of country, folk, bluegrass, and rock and roll on the Charlotte music scene since the 1980s– from his days as leader of Americana pioneers the Rank Outsiders to his more recent work as a solo artist, band leader, and producer. Noonan has remained a perennial on the local live music scene, performing regularly at favorite neighborhood musical venues and creating a strong body of recorded work, including the albums Catawba Cityand The Man That I Can’t Be. His original music combines roots-rock reverence with agile stylistic versatility. In songs like “Catawba City”, “Get Off My Land”and “Down at the Biddy Hut”, Noonan explores distinctly regional settings and themes. He is a wry and entertaining performer whether in a solo or ensemble setting.
Chris Peace
Chris Peace
Christopher Chandek Peace is a veteran of the Charlotte music scene beginning with the touring and recording band Sugarsmack (1990-96; he also played guitar and lent vocal support to Bill Noonan’s honky-tonk outfit The Barbed Wires for half of the 2010s). A songwriter of eclectic tastes, raised on musical heroes from the pantheon including Neil Young, Woody Guthrie, Leadbelly, Bob Dylan, and Blind Willie Johnson, he began in earnest to explore gospel and church music in 2007, culminating in the 2016 release of the self-produced Americana gospel record In the House of the Lord (Laurel Way Records, recorded at Old House Studios), which featured the talents of Natalie Royal, Ron Brendle, and David Kim, among others. With a number of current recording projects in the works ranging from acoustic/traditional to electric/alternative, the current incantation of his band The Lower Providence Gospel Revue features Peace on guitar, vocals, and harmonica, stalwart sidemen Tom Hanchett on fiddle and Parker Foley on acoustic bass.
Rick Spreitzer
Rick Spreitzer
Rick has been writing songs for over 30 years. He is a small stream fed from the waters of Townes, Neil Young and Nick Drake. Sideman Kevin Edwards is a brilliant player who has been breathing life into Rick’s songs for over 15 of those 30 years. "Rick Spreitzer is a beautiful guy; gentle but strong, and clear sighted about the human condition. He writes about regular people in a way that reaches all of us, if we take the time to listen.”~David Childers
