The New Creatures

The New Creatures are a five-piece rock band drawn together through mutual friends and a love for rock n roll. Formed by childhood friends Conrad Sloand and John Carstarphen along with their college buddies Ben Carroll and Bjarne Nielsen, each member of the band had already played with another prior to the New Creatures: Sloand and Carstarphen in Belmont, North Carolina, Carstarphen and Carroll in Bozeman, Montana, and Sloand and Nielsen in Canton, New York. The four started playing together in late 2019 in McAdenville, North Carolina, and quickly found Jacob “Dino” Palladino through a lucky Craigslist ad. Now, the five share a house dubbed the Creature Farm where they live and practice.

The New Creatures draw on a wide range of artists including The White Stripes, Neil Young, Ty Segall, and Twin Peaks. With Sloand, Carroll, and Carstarphen laying down spicy licks on electric guitar accompanied by the roar of Dino’s drum fills and Nielsen’s perfectly intricate bass lines, The New Creatures have a fresh yet familiar sound, bringing together elements of surf rock, classic rock, and garage rock. Stay spicy.

Cory Wells

Cory Wells is an alternative singer/songwriter from Charlotte, NC. Hailing from New Orleans, LA, born into a family of musicians, Cory finds himself armed with a 6 string Alvarez acoustic guitar at 15 years old, and a fiery rage to send his love of music out into the open heart. Crafting his guitar, piano and violin skills, he embarks early on a mission to write songs based on his extraordinary and challenging life, leading him into forming his first music project, a duo named Jacobs Well.

Inspired by the honest and raw storytelling of Rob Thomas , Wells finds solace and escape from broken home to grouphomes by putting life's struggle and trials into lyrics and melodies. This will later shape Well's trademark melancholic yet powerfully soaring vocal reminiscent of the great classic rock vocalists of the 80's.

At only 17, Cory enters and wins the prestigious ''Queen City Idol'' competition with ''Jacobs Well''. Consequently he forms wildly edgy rock band MANIC at 19, earning much notoriety, titles in music competitions by regional radio stations and a successful tour of the US. Wells later reconstructs and re-names the band to FALLING THROUGH APRIL, leading to label opportunities, festival appearances, support slots for established acts like Third Eye Blind, and studio sessions with renowned producers such as Rene Moore ( Rene & Angela, Jay-Z, Michael Jackson) and Mitch Easter (R.E.M.). The band remains together touring for several years before parting ways, and Cory follows up with his debut EP release of ''The New Old'' under his new project ''Subliminal Confession'', featuring a sold out EP release in Charlotte.

Often compared to Dallas Green and James Bay, Wells puts his own stamp on heartfelt melodic rock with vocal loops, stunning harmonies and honest stories of life's unexpected turns, family, long distance love, finding strength in loss, and turning pain into something beautiful.
