The Evening Muse Presents

The Buffalo Ruckus’ music has been described as a compendium of roots, Americana, southern soul, psychedelic postmodern avant-garde and experimental country-fried rock. The songwriting is pure and soulful with stories of heritage, spirituality, redemption, love gained and love lost. Spun from the timbers of heart and soul, the Ruckus took its first musical breath in the middle of 2013. They quickly gained public attention after winning both the 2014 Texas Music Showdown and 2014 Shiner Rising Star competitions. The band has quickly spread its musical wings and taken its heavy soul-fueled sound through Texas, Georgia, New York, the Midwest, the West Coast and the Rocky Mountain States.

The Buffalo Ruckus has had the honor of performing on the nationally syndicated Troubadour, TX television show and at top notch venues including Billy Bob’s and the House of Blues, at large music festivals such as The Larry Joe Taylor music festival, Tommy Alverson’s Family Gathering, the 2015 Billy Bob’s 4th of July Picnic, Texas Music Revolution, the Wild Flower Festival and The Deadwood Jam . They have also had the distinction of opening for a diverse array of artists, including Foghat, Cheap Trick, American Aquarium, The Dirty River boys, Ryan Bingham, Merle Haggard, The Turnpike Troubadours, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Cory Morrow, Charlie Robison and many others.

Boot-stomping rhythms, howling vocals, and spear-in-the-back guitar leads their overall objective: “Spread the Ruckus.” Their self-titled debut album was released in August of 2014 and was produced by the band and Grammy ® nominee Chris Bell (who has worked with the Eagles, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Erykah Badu, and U2). It took listeners on a raw genre-defying journey through Americana, folk, blues, country, and roots rock-n-roll and spawned two radio singles “High Again,” and “Angilee.”

The Buffalo Ruckus are “raising a ruckus” with their current singles “Carolina Calls”, “Hills and Valleys” and Born To Die” from their sophomore album, Peace & Cornbread.

“Buffalo Ruckus is adept at foot-stomping barnstormers and howling lamentations. It’s psychedelic Americana made by musicians who take the ‘outlaw. part of ‘outlaw country’ very seriously.” – D Magazine

“The Buffalo Ruckus’ Peace & Cornbread is a perfectly mixed Old Fashioned. It has the squared-jaw and fire of rye whiskey, the distinctness of bitters, and sweetness of sugar; best enjoyed at full-volume!” – Texas Music Pickers

Stanton, Kentucky native-son Josh Nolan self-released his debut album, Fair City Lights in 2014, blowing away audiences and critics alike. Often compared to a young Bruce Springsteen, Josh has an expressive voice, ambitious guitar prowess, and infectious song lyrics that capture the intricate details of people’s lives in small town, America.

Since his debut, Josh Nolan has played hundreds of gigs throughout the Midwest and Southeast United States. He has performed at festivals like Master Musician Fest, Well Crafted, and Kickin’ It On The Creek. He has shared stages or opened for artists like Tyler Childers, Langhorne Slim, Margo Price, Darrel Scott, Lera Lynn, John Moreland, and Shooter Jennings. Josh is a multi-instrumentalist in-demand band member and studio session player recently supporting Senora May, his sister and current rising star Chelsea Nolan, William Matheny, Doc Feldman, Short & Company, and more.

Josh Nolan worked meticulously in his home studio recording and producing his second album Kind Heart to Follow (scheduled for release May, 2019 via Shaker Steps Records). The album was recorded with engineering help from Kenny Miles (of Wayne Graham) and finally mixed and mastered by Jason Groves at Sneak Attack Recording Company. Josh played most of the instruments on the album himself except for the drum tracks enlisting help from Josh Anglin and Hayden Miles with backup vocal appearances by Chelsea Nolan and Montana Hobbs (of The Local Honeys).
