Janet Evra blends traditional bossa nova and samba with modern influences to produce fresh, lush, original jazz. TO BE RESCHEDULED

"Evra little thing she does is magic." Advantage News

From Gloucester, England, Janet Evra is a vocalist, bassist, composer, and songwriter now based in St. Louis, Missouri, USA where she is a 2019-2020 Artist in Residence at the Kranzberg Arts Foundation. Evra blends traditional bossa nova, samba, and latin jazz with modern influences and an indie twist to produce fresh, lush, original music. Evra sings in English, French, Spanish, and Portuguese.

Evra performs on premier stages across the United States and Europe.

Evra released her debut album, Ask Her to Dance, featuring her original music and signature style, to critical acclaim in 2018. Evra is joined on the album by her all star band featuring Adam Maness on piano, Will Buchanan on guitar, Khamali Cuffie-Moore on trumpet, and Montez Coleman on drums, among others. All About Jazz wrote: "Each player is in top form, while Evra's every vocal phrase seems to be punctuated with a smile that cheekily gives away the tone of the whole record." Evra released a follow-up single Wish You Were Here in spring 2019.

Evra released a video series "Janet Evra Live @ The Kranzberg" in summer 2019. The series includes live performances of Janet's original music and stylish reinterpretations of popular song, including a samba take on Blondie's "Call Me" and an uptempo arrangement of Koop's "Koop Island Blues."

For her most recent project Evra performed in a special show with Brazilian jazz guitar star Diego Figueiredo at the historic Grandel Theatre in St. Louis in fall 2019.

Dropping Julia

Sparkling with Jersey sass and Virginia charm, Dropping Julia is a Neo-soul / pop band in Charlottesville, formed around the original songs of front-woman Emily Kresky. Hailing from Northern NJ, Emily began writing songs and picked up the guitar at age 19, which she carried all over the U.S. and across the pond, cutting her teeth in pubs, bars, restaurants and street performances.

With the addition of bassist Niko Cvetanovich, drummer Sean Bracken, and guitarists Sam Passe and Alex Bragg, her songs took on a new personality. With lively elements of rockabilly, pop, rock, funk, Neo-soul and R&B layered over dreamy and haunting stories, Dropping Julia weaves together their own lush tapestry of roots music that is both uniquely modern and longingly retro. Their compelling performances, infused with authenticity and soul, richly combine a steadfast rhythm section, alluring lyrics reminiscent of a dimly lit barroom, and whimsical yet sultry vocals. Dropping Julia radiates with dedicated musicianship, entertaining camaraderie, and genuine friendship. Upbeat, fun and quirky, their energy on stage is full to the brim with enough infectious chemistry to entice and involve audiences.
