If you’ve ever heard Cicada Rhythm, you’ve probably asked yourself where this soulful blend of folksy song-writing, finely-crafted musicianship, and chilling vocal harmonies came from. Andrea DeMarcus, freshly arrived back home from New York, where she studied upright bass at Julliard, first met David Kirslis as he was tumbling off an Athens-bound freight train. When she first heard the way his bluesy, Atlanta-influenced guitar picking resonated over her rolling deep bass lines, a musical romance took root in the Georgia soil. Today, Cicada Rhythm plays regularly in venues all over Athens and Atlanta and has toured throughout the Southeast. Their harmonious blend of unique styles continues to win them an ever-increasing audience.
