VANCE GILBERT
VANCE GILBERT
Vance Gilbert burst onto the singer/songwriter scene in the early 90's when buzz started spreading in the folk clubs of Boston about an ex-multicultural arts teacher who was knocking 'em dead at open mics. Born and raised in the Philadelphia area, Vance started out hoping to be a jazz singer, and then discovered his affinity for the storytelling sensibilities of acoustic folk music. Once word got out about Gilbert's stage-owning singing and playing, Shawn Colvin invited him to be special guest on her Fat City Tour. Noted not only for being the ever consummate performer, Gilbert has recorded 12 albums, including 4 for Philo/Rounder Records and a duo album with friend Ellis Paul. Along with being opener of choice for artists as varied as Aretha Franklin, Arlo Guthrie, and Anita Baker, 2006 and 2007 found Gilbert opening 140+ shows for comedian George Carlin. Most recently he’s the opener of choice for Paul Reiser and The Subdudes.

Considered by many to be an integral part of the national folk scene, Gilbert's approach to the acoustic singer songwriter idiom is significant. Gilbert's compositions, while frequently employing sophisticated melodies and harmonies that attest to his jazz roots, remain sublime attestations to the storyteller's craft. He even has a tune on a Grammy Nominated children’s album. How rounded is that?
Searra Jade
Searra Jade
Searra Jade is a musical seamstress who stitches experiences and thoughts into singer-songwriter-defying sound tapestries that illustrate both our modern times and timeless walks in the forest. With lyrics as clever as they are heartfelt, and with music sophisticated yet catchy, her sound is a musical baby of many of her influences – with the conversational melodies of Joni Mitchell, intricate guitar-picking and open tunings of Nick Drake, heart-centered human lyrical stories of David Wilcox, instrumentation and mountain-vibe of Appalachian folk and old time music, sense of chords and compositions of classic Brazilian jazz, epic odyssey-like nature of Yes – and yet the sound is none but her own. Perhaps she is best put into a nutshell sounding something like “epically harmonious and profoundly playful philosopholk for the planet and the people!”

Searra is based in the mountains outside of Asheville, North Carolina, from which she derives much artistic inspiration. Seeing Searra perform live is a dynamically interactive and story-filled experience, and this songbird has been spotted playing in many a different habitat – from playing jazz and bossa-nova classics at fancy wine bars or nursing homes with her every-morphing trio/quartet, to sweet concerts in gardens or parks, to rocking it out solo on her loop pedal at jam-packed pizza breweries – but her absolute favorites venues by far are intimate house concerts and 5am cuddle puddles! No matter where she is singing though, Searra always holds true to her mission of serving musically to inspire others to connect deeply and listen (to the earth, each other, themselves), to stand up for the things they love, and to celebrate this precious life and planet. Beyond performing and writing, as Searra is also a private music lesson instructor and song leader that facilitates workshops on vocal improvisation, harmonizing and group singing, with the goals of facilitating harmony and tapping into the playful and spontaneous music-maker spirits inside of all of us. And when Searra is simply not playing music, she can be found either planting fruit trees, making fermented foods and beverages, frolicking in the woods, or getting friends and strangers to play silly games. All of those passions of hers seep their way into her songs and bubble up with effervescence to tickle the ears and souls of those who will stop to listen.
