Modern Primitives
Modern Primitives
With Johnny Thunders and the heartbreakers, Chuck Berry, James Brown, Jerry Lee Lewis and Howling Wolf as influences, Modern Primitives play youthful "garage" Rock n Roll. Hailing from right here in the Queen City, Modern Primitives are sure to get your toes tapping or maybe even your feet stomping!
Radio Lola
Radio Lola
Collaborative friends, Dani, Chris and Sean joined forces as a new band in 2013 to create a space that would allow them to develop the motley arrangement of dynamic sounds they have become known for. Radio Lola has been described as a “four-piece tsunami of bluesy rock & roll force,” Gohjo.com, “rock-infused soul bolstered by the strength of Engle's vocals and the harnessed amplitude of Chris Hendrickson's guitar fury,” Creative Loafing, and “a provocative, emotional seesaw that happens with the listener in which one goes from happy and satiated with the content of one song to longing and woke in another, " My City Magazine.
Completing a two-year long endeavor of self-funding their first album recording through the support of their live shows, polishing off with a quickly successful Kickstarter campaign, Radio Lola recently released on red vinyl, “The Burden in Our Bones.” Their first album experience consisted of multiple trips to Snug Records, spending weekends blueprinting and recording into the late evening hours. Capturing the authenticity of each song was a priority in the creative process. Radio Lola didn’t just believe in the product, but in the how the product was made. Some members of the band sought to bring as much honesty to “The Burden in Our Bones,” telling wild tales of stripping down to skin during the recording of Birthday Suit.
The original three, joined by Kevin Snyder on bass look forward to the inevitable evolution time brings when a group of like-minded artists continue to trust the process of emoting and creating collaborative art.
The Menders
The Menders
The Menders deliver a range of musical influences that captivate the listener as they weave through genres in seemingly effortless fashion. To experience them live, you might begin the night listening to a modern folk band before you fare shockingly in the presence of a driving, get-the-hell-out-of-my-way rock 'n' roll performance. Every step of the way, you know you are listening to a group of musicians that love what they do.”
- Brett Barest, Anderson Independent Mail, 2016
Based out of Gastonia, NC, The Menders have been blending influences such as the Beatles, Jack White, The Doors, and Doc Watson into a folk-laced garage rock sound. Since 2011, they've been honing their craft around North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, and Florida.
