Gaslight Street
Gaslight Street
Soul music will never go out of style. Just like Otis Redding and the Allman Brothers spawned from the same bluesy roots, Gaslight Street melds pure Southern rock with charismatic vocals, traipsing the boudaries of blues and funk.

Born in the growing musical bastion of Charleston, SC, Gaslight's regional prescence has grown behind the release of their debut album, Blue Skies For Fools. Featuring the unmistakably soulful lyrics and vocals of Campbell Brown, the disc strongly stakes the band's place as worthy inheritors to the Southern soul tradition.

Lead singer Brown initially made his name with country/rock band Live Oak, before recruiting guitarist/organist Jason Stokes to join him in Charlestron in 2006, forming a more songcraft-oriented band in Gaslight Street. Drummer Brooks DuBose and bassist Frank Nelsom go well beyond backing up the band, providing a steady rhythm that's both consistently solid and innovative.

With a sound grown from influences ranging from the Neville Brothers to Molly Hatchet, Gaslight Street manages to consistently maintain a signature style that holds its own with the best Southern-fried soul acts of today.

Too many bands know how to rock but rarely take the time to roll. Gaslight Street isn’t one of those. These four men — compiled from among the best all-around musicians Charleston has to offer — know how to blend swagger with humility and sweat with soul. With the release of 2013’s Heavy Wind, their third full-length album, lead singer Campbell Brown‘s songwriting has
fully matured, delivering concise grooves with rib-stickin’ imagery. Somewhere between classic Southern rock and a swampy blues band, Gaslight Street manages to keep the kids’ hips moving, while also delivering a sound
that makes their mamas smile.
